Have you ever seen "pre-cooled" tulip bulbs? It was my first time to find it, at Schiphol airport, Holland. This must be the newly developed biotechnology - I didn't see it when I visited there exactly one year ago. Usually, tulip bulbs are planted in late September to October (in Japan). They spend their youth in cold ground with many freezing nights during winter. But this "pre-cooled" tulip bulbs already experienced such winer and still in the fridge so they don't feel warm air yet. They are yet patiently waiting for spring to come, which means once they are bought and taken out of the fridge, they are ready to grow immediately. The shopgirl told me to plant them as quickly as possible when I got home. It was a bit tough to do some gardening after the long flight with jetlag, but I did as I was told anyway : ) I hope I will be able to post some pictures of blooming tulips in 4-5 weeks from now. |
